Filipino talents shine once more as ABS-CBN stars Karylle, Christian Baustista and Joseph "Thou" Reyes topbill the first pan-Asian television musical drama series, The Kitchen Musical, an original production by The Group Entertainment.

"There was a time in the world that musical was the format of movie, that was actually different kinds of movies kunwari West Side Story was a musical, Annie was a musical maraming ganon dati it's just that ngayon ay hindi na kasi siya uso. Kaya the other musical that you can compare it with is Glee," Karylle said.

Karylle, whose first acting role was "Little Mermaid" in 2000, said that she's happy that musical shows is finally back and being embraced by viewers.

"Well of course we are happy that this kind of format is back, like the same way that reality TV is a format, the same way that cooking show is also different format, parang genre kumbaga," Karylle said.

On Sunday, she will leave the country and will stay in Singapore for 4 months to do "The Kitchen Musical," the first ever pan-Asian television musical drama series.

The series is an original production by The Group Entertainment and it is set to launch in the country on Studio 23 and in 19 countries across Asia  this October.

"The Kitchen Musical" will be served in 13 one-hour episodes and will tell the story of a rich girl fresh out of culinary school in Paris who embarks on a journey of self-discovery when she starts working for the Avilon, her father's restaurant.

In the show, Karylle will play the lead female character Madeline.

Also part of the Asian show are Filipino artists Ikey Canoy, Thou Reyes, and Christian Bautista.

Bye Showtime

In the interview, Karylle also expressed that she will miss her hosting job for ABS-CBN's "Showtime."

"They are so sweet talaga. Sobra akong overwhelmed sa sweetness. I was able to talk to them pero hindi ako nakapag ba-bye talaga," Karylle said adding: "Mami-miss ko talaga kasi iba ang bonding doon unlike other shows kami we are there from start to finish, kami nandoon nagkukuwentuhan kami, parang school yung masyado ka ng attached sa kanila," she said.

Karylle said that she will definitely bid goodbye to her "Showtime" family before flying to Singapore.

Philippine Bayanihan Society: Gifts of Love Charity Gala 2011

It was said by a famous American writer and philosopher, “Love grows by giving!” Community Chest is delighted to work with the Philippine Bayanihan Society of Singapore (PBSS) to organise “Gifts of Love Charity Gala 2011”.

Funds will be raised through outright donations, table sales and a charity auction held during the dinner. All proceeds will help bring greater hope and dignity to the lives of the 300,000 people served by Community Chest, and also help the PBSS fulfill its mission of providing Filipino workers in Singapore the opportunity to upgrade their skills through a myriad of training programmes.

In line with the theme for this year’s charity gala dinner, Gifts of Love, His Excellency, the President of Singapore, Mr S R Nathan has specially created and donated a Chinese calligraphy piece in aid of our fund-raising. He gave his rendition of the traditional Chinese character for Love, “?”.  The embedded character “?”, which means heart, conveys the message of loving with your heart. The calligraphy will be presented to one of our donors during the dinner.

Items provided by donors up for the charity auction include an idyllic resort get-away, paintings by renowned artist, Chen KeZhan and exquisite wines.

Filipino artistes, Mr Ogie Alcasid and Mr R J Rosales, led by Music Director Mr Iskandar Ismail will also present exciting performances.

If you're a Filipino, between 10-18 year old, currently living in Singapore, and good at Public speaking, this is you chance to showcase you’re speaking talent.

In public speaking, as in any form of communication, there are five basic elements, often expressed as "who is saying what to whom using what medium with what effects?" The purpose of public speaking can range from simply transmitting information, to motivating people to act, to simply telling a story. Good orators should be able to change the emotions of their listeners, not just inform them.

Singapore launches Super Yacht Show at Sentosa

Singapore has taken a major step towards becoming the Monaco of the East, with the launch of the inaugural Singapore Yacht Show. This makes the island only the third city, after Monaco and Abu Dhabi, to stage both the F1 Grand Prix and the super yacht show.

Twelve luxury yachts are part of the line-up for the inaugural show at One Degree 15 in Sentosa. From a stunning 57-metre motor-sailor with huge masts to a traditionally-built sailing yacht, for a more nostalgic feel.

The organisers put the show together at short notice and showed that they could deliver.

Andy Treadwell, Managing Director of the Informa Yacht Group, said: "Three months is absolutely not enough time to organise a proper yacht show.

"But for lots of reasons to do with our stakeholders and our own take on the need to launch a show now means that we have done it and we are very pleased. Lots of interest and looking forward to a really fantastic show in 2012."

The fledgling super yacht industry is set to create spin-offs for other supporting services.

Arthur Tay, Chairman of One Degree 15 Marina Club, said: "Retrofitting, interiors, F&B, sales of the boats, some of the conference things like cruising grounds, tourism aspects all have a part to play with this."

The three-day event was officially opened by the Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry, S. Iswaran, who said that Singapore has the potential to be the "third destination" for super yacht owners, after the Mediterranean and Caribbean.

It looks smooth sailing for this industry, with 81 unique super yacht visits to Singapore last year, a five-fold increase from 2006. And that is why this show is looking at doubling the number of boats to 25 for the 2012 edition.

Justin Bieber Live in Singapore Indoor Stadium 2011

He’s the first artist ever to have seven songs from his debut album chart on the Billboard Top 100. He had both Usher and Justin Timberlake clamoring to sign him, and after signing with Usher’s label, now counts the superstar as a close personal friend. He has performed for U.S President Obama and worked with Ludacris, Kanye West and Miley Cyrus amongst others. Oh, and he’s only 17 years old.

He is of course, Justin Bieber, and his story is nothing short of amazing¬–especially when you consider that he really only started singing three years ago. In fact, it was someone else’s belief in the youngster’s talent which alerted Justin Bieber himself to the fact that he might have a little something extra to offer. In 2007, merely a couple of years before tickets for Justin Bieber tour dates became worth their weight in gold, the boy star entered a local talent content in his native Ontario, Canada. Competing against peers who, unlike himself, were vocally trained and preened for the stage, Justin Bieber beat the odds, showcasing a natural talent which was impressive enough to win him second place overall. And thus, a seed was planted.

Wanting to share his success with friends and family, the would-be teen superstar posted video from the competition on YouTube. Encouraged by the enthusiasm of those in his inner circles, Justin Bieber followed up with additional videos of himself singing covers of well-known songs by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Ne-Yo and Usher. In 2008, he was officially signed to Island Records and just three years later, Justin Bieber tour dates are now amongst the most anticipated events on the pop music calendar.

In an effort to share that message with people the world over, Justin Bieber tour dates will be taking the young megastar everywhere from the U.S and U.K, to Europe and Asia.
