Today is the start of a four day marathon of sales, discount and bargain hunting at IT Show.
I have planned to attend early but I still arrived late about an hour or two after the door was opened. Despite the economic downturn, the show attracted a record 800 exhibitors, 50 more than last year. My first impression was that this is by far the biggest IT show I have attended for the last 3 years. They occupied from the first to the sixth floor and covers 330,000 square feet of exhibit space. Every space was utilized, nothing is wasted.
According to Channel News Asia, the organizers are expecting sales to hit at least S$4.6 million on the first day alone a 2.5 per cent more than last year. And they also confirm that this is the largest in the show's history which reiterated my suspicion.
Starhub, with their aggressive marketing strategy, occupied half of the third floor sharing it with Sony. They have another big room (room 325) where they processed the applications.
SingTel shared the 2nd floor with M1, epiCentre and Toshiba Claims station
This is the view around 4pm on the first day! I thought we are officially in recession……
